Installation instructions

To ensure best performance and environmentally sound performance, the Pipelife SBR System must be installed properly. Please read the following instructions carefully to ensure optimal operation.

  • Before installation, consult local legislature regarding minimum distances from buildings, property boundaries, wells, water lines, etc.
  • In the case the appropriate three-chamber septic tank is already available, simply install the Pipelife SBR unit in one of the chambers. In most cases little or no changes are required on the existing septic tank system. Eco Pipelife experts will be happy to advise you on your respective situation.

In cases where Pipelife tanks also need to be installed, observe the following installation guidelines:

  • The SBR system should be located close to the building to ensure short waste line runs. The nearby location also secures enough backfill to bury the tank during the construction of the building.
  • The location of the tank should be easily accessible to allow uncomplicated residue removal and cleaning.
  •  The tank should rest on a uniform surface. The underlying soil must be sturdy enough to bear the weight of the tank and its contents. The trench in which the SBR system is to be installed should be about 50 cm wider than the tank. It is advisable to lay a level of granular base for the tank. The maximum installation depth should not exceed 2.5 metres.
  • All joints must be sealed properly. The joints should be clean and dry before applying the high-quality joint sealer. Burying should not commence until the sealant setup period is completed. After all joints have been sealed a water tightness test should be performed. Risers and covers should be also tested.
  • Carefully inspect the Pipelife SBR system for any damage. After inspection, place the tank in the trench. To achieve stability and appropriate positioning, the tank should be partially filled with water.
  • Anchor the tank to the ground with non-stretching polyester belts. The use of at least 3 anchoring belts with a nominal capacity of 2500 kg is advised. The belts should be equipped with stainless steel or zinc-coated ratchet wheels.
  • After setting the tank, levelling, and joining the building sewer and effluent line, the SBR system can be buried. The burying material should be and free of larger stones and sharp objects as they could damage the tank.
  • The burying material should be added in layers. Each layer should be compacted. In fine-textured soils such as silts, silt loams, clay loams, and clay, imported granular material should be used. This is especially important in areas with common freeze and thaw cycles. The soil movement during such cycles can damage the tank joints.
  • Fill the tank with water in order to:
  • Ensure the most efficient functioning of the system.
  • Avoid floating of the tank in case of high groundwater.
  • Clean the electronic equipment of the SBR system.

After following all of these steps, your Pipelife's SBR system can be immediately put to use.
