Corporate Social Responsibility

CSR - Our Care

“CSR is more than just making bold statements on company websites. Through involvement and a change in mind-sets, it is process driven and will lead to a whole new perspective on how Pipelife can benefit commercially as well as serve its many customers and the communities of which it is a member.”  Zoran Davidovski

Our Promise
Environmental sustainability is central to the world of plastic pipe technology. Ever mindful of the many communities that it serves, Pipelife has a commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that is embraced by all its business operations throughout the world. We therefore takes responsibility for the impact of our activities on the environment, consumers, employees, and all other stakeholders within the public sphere.

Our Plan
As a member of The Plastic Pipe & Fittings Association (TEPPFA), Pipelife continues to play a leading role in promoting the environmental benefits of plastic pipe systems. This regard for our products is carried further to include the complete value chain from raw materials to manufacturing and distribution through to end of service life and recycling. Our group-wide innovation program is a continuous source of ideas created by employees to improve our products and services and the way we provide them. Our employees are critical to the success of Pipelife and that is why we promote a safe, healthy and productive work environment. Their involvement and expertise are valued.

Our Progress
Progress in achieving key environmental targets for 2011 was marked by significant improvement compared to the previous year. Energy use [GJ/ton] was reduced by 4.1 % and our CO2 measured in [kg/ton] reduced by 2.9 %. The amount of recycled material used increased to a level over 16,500 tons, however, due to a high production in 2011 the per kg figure decreased by 3.9 %. Over the same period, our water consumption was further reduced by 3.4 %.
Starting from 2012, the Pipelife Group is making a big step forward in terms of CSR, corporate social responsibility, and will go for the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). It is a network-based organization that produces a comprehensive sustainability reporting framework that is widely used around the world and over 10,000 leading companies are already working with it.

Our Purpose
In today’s ever competitive world, Pipelife recognizes the added value and benefits that are produced through promoting its CSR resources. This purpose will enhance our strategic and operational impacts.

Energy consumption
All energy usage within the Group is monitored and measured per ton. The production processes of extrusion and injection- molding of plastics use electricity. Other energy sources are only used for heating.

Water consumption
As with energy consumption, Pipelife is endeavored to limit and control water usage. In most Pipelife factories we use closed systems and great care is taken to reduce water wastage.

Recycling
One of our top priorities is to maximize recycling and minimize waste in all production processes. Pipelife lowers usage of raw materials by developing lightweight systems and reusing production waste. As a member of The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association (TEPPFA), Pipelife has been active in industry initiatives to promote recycling, such as the Vinyl 2010 Voluntary Commitment for Sustainable Development.
