Safety, Health & Environment



Everybody must be aware of the impact of having a good and safe working environment within the company. People working in a safety aware company will achieve more and also feel better, which in turn will increase the company’s output. A safe environment is of a great importance but sometimes it can be difficult to be aware of the dangers around us. We need to open up our eyes to the well being of our work force, both in our plants as well as our offices.

We at Pipelife see two areas where SHE can create value:

1) We believe that taking our responsibility for SHE matters creates values such as:
    		• High credibility at local, national and international authorities
    		• Good ethical reputation in the society
    		• Higher support for the company and our business
    		• Better acceptance/ support for our products


    2) Showing our employees that we take care about their occupational safety and health:
    		• Feeling safe and healthy - or better work satisfaction
    		• Higher company loyalty
    		• Lower short term absence/sick-leave - higher efficiency
    		• Good reputation - easier to recruit key personnel.


    Reporting accidents and near misses, sick leave etc. are just one part to our SHE policy. The other, probably more important, part is to try to prevent accidents, to try find out where the potential dangers lie and to overcome them.

    There are several ways to approach this topic and many Pipelife companies throughout our Group are well on the way with regular safety rounds and preventive maintenance work. Within the chemical industry in the field of raw material production (e.g. PVC), there is definitely a much higher risk and bigger danger potential around a plant. Since we are pretty close to this part the chemical industry, we try to learn from them and do what they are doing - on a level that we feel is appropriate for our business.
