Pipelife Norway Supplies Cooling Water Pipes to Sweden

Pipelife Norway has in December 2003 supplied the submarine cooling water pipelines connecting two cooling water systems for Fortum, Sweden. The OD 800 mm SDR17 PN10 PE pipes were delivered in 4 lengths, 2 x 490 m and 2 x 510 m by tugboat from Stathelle, first to Södertälje, south of Stockholm, where they had to be pulled over a lock in order to enter into the lake of Mälaren. From there, the pipes were further towed through the lake of Mälaren into Riddarfjärden in central Stockholm, where they shall be installed. Pipelife shall also supply special large pipe fittings which shall be used for connecting the marine and the land pipe sections. The project is made in co-operation with Pipelife Sweden, the contract is however directly with Fortum. The marine contractor is Frog Dyk from Göteborg.
