Warmth for the Homeless in Berlin:
„Wärmebus“ of the German Red Cross

Approximately 7.000 people live on the streets of Berlin. The „Wärmebus“ of the German Red Cross is driving through the streets of winterly Berlin to support the homeless with warm blankets, food and warm clothes to help them through the cold months. Additionally, the staff of the bus helps to find a place to sleep for the night as well.

German Red Cross Winter – Support, the „Wärmebus on tour“: The bus is on tour from 01. November 2012 to 29. February 2013 between the hours of 6pm and Midnight.

Tasks of the bus:
During the operating times, the bus stops at the spots in the city where the homeless people temporarily live. The staff makes contact with them and offer support and help, maybe driving them to emergency overnight accomodations, giving them warm clothes or other things like sleeping bags and isolating mattresses.
