Good innovation results are reported by the Pipelife Group for the first half of 2012. The company measures its innovation figures as the overall percentage of turnover generated by new products (PIN). Over the first six months of this year, 18.3% of company wide sales were produced by products and systems that were launched within the last five years.
Commenting on the published figures, Zoran Davidovski, Vice President of Marketing & Innovation explains: “Given seasonal fluctuations, projections indicate that by year-end, we shall eventually achieve slightly higher target – certainly consistent with our 20% average for the last five years.”
The PIN development has been tracked for annual reporting since 2007 and it can be pointed out that new products are the key to the firm’s long term development. From a European manufacturing point of view, this performance is significant and underlines the success of Pipelife’s latest products such as Pragma® ID, PP master, Smartline, and the Raineo® rainwater infiltration and storage system. Such consistency for organic sales growth within the industry is an outstanding achievement.
Also contributions from other innovative activities, embraced by the company’s ‘Ideas & More’ program, are essential. This approach encourages and rewards employees to brainstorm not only for new or better products but also for ways of doing things better. Since its introduction in 2009, Pipelife has collected a large number of ideas that have inspired and improved the manufacturing and commercial services. Many of these ideas have brightened the sustainable future.
Pipelife’s ‘Ideas & More’ program is coordinated by the company’s corporate R&D center in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands.
