Optimized Heating and Cooling for your Industrial Spaces

Due to their vast open spaces, large facilities such as industrial halls and sports halls are often associated with being uncomfortably cold in winter, or stifling hot in summer, while being difficult and expensive to heat or cool.

In a lot of cases, these associations are correct, especially when using convection heating and cooling systems. However, there are more efficient and economical solutions available to you. By having a hydronic radiant heating and cooling system in place,  you benefit from a clean and comfortable set-up, that is also extremely energy efficient and flexible in design.

Why hydronic floor heating is so efficient

In contrast to convection systems such as forced-air heating methods, hydronic radiant systems operate by generating heat between people and the ground surface, making it feel comparably warmer.

With water pipes installed directly into the floor, wall or ceiling structure, hydronic radiant heat is transferred across surfaces and felt exactly where it is needed – under your feet and around you.

This means your thermostat can be kept at a lower temperature without compromising on comfort, resulting in less energy consumption and lower running costs.

A cooling system that makes AC obsolete

In the same way that a hydronic heating system evenly heats your space by circulating warm water under the surface, the same method is used with the circulation of cold water to evenly cool down your space.

Using a Pipelife hydronic cooling system is a much more efficient and economical solution for large industrial halls and sports halls, as it requires less energy compared to cooling fans or air conditioning units. The flow of cold water under the surface also keeps the interior cooler for a longer period of time.

Benefits of installing a hydronic heating and cooling system

Product

High ceilings, poor air circulation and forced-air heating systems all contribute to enhanced stratification and wasted energy. Regardless of the size or height of your industrial space you can evenly and efficiently heat or cool your whole area, using relatively lower operating temperatures. Resulting in reduced operating costs, and preserved energy and heat.

With heating and cooling pipes directly installed in the floor, wall or ceiling structure, there is no need for external heaters, radiators or air conditioning units, enabling you to use the entire industrial space as needed. This is especially advantageous when outfitting sports halls, so sports equipment can be placed as required, without having to consider where to put heating and cooling units.

As hydronic heating pipes are directly installed in the floor slabs below the working surface, it is possible to heat industrial floors where heavy vehicles and machinery are operated.

All Pipelife hydronic heating and cooling pipes are made from certified and reinforced thermoplastic for reliability and durability. Once installed, they need very little to no maintenance. You also have added protection with an EVOH oxygen diffusion barrier layer within the pipe wall, making them virtually impervious to gases, while safeguarding the whole system from potential corrosion.

Forced-air systems use convection to spread around heat, which requires a lot of energy to evenly heat up large facilities. This can result in cold spots and an unevenly heated environment. In contrast, underfloor hydronic heat gradually and evenly warms the ground surface, virtually eliminating cold spots and temperature fluctuations. This results in less dust and drafts, while keeping floors warm and dry at all times.

With its low temperature operating system, hydronic underfloor heating is an ideal choice if you are looking for a more efficient and ecological way to heat and cool your industrial workspace or sports hall. The system is also a perfect match for sustainable energy sources such as solar collection systems and geothermal heat pumps.

Wondering how sustainable plastic pipes are?

Plastic has a bad reputation these days. However, the use of plastic in and around buildings can be very beneficial not just for the user, but also for the environment, especially when compared to other materials.

Lower carbon footprint throughout life cycle

Compared to metal pipes, plastic pipes are a preferred alternative when considering the products’ energy consumption and carbon footprint, from manufacturing to installation and beyond. When thinking about environmental implications, consideration needs to go further than CO2 emissions from production. We need to include all phases of the lifecycle.

100-year service life

Plastic piping systems are a sustainable and environmentally responsible choice, especially when considering their extremely long service life. With superior resistance to corrosion and abrasion, excellent joint performance and tightness, many plastic pipes have an estimated service life of at least 100 years.

100 % Recyclable

Our plastic pipes are 100% recyclable, and some can even be recycled several times, re-entering the manufacturing process as quality assured recycled plastic. Every year, we increase the ratio of recycled plastics within our production lines, while ensuring the high product quality our clients are used to receiving from us.

Working towards a more sustainable future

As an active member of The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association (TEPPFA) we want to raise awareness of the value that plastic pipe systems offer for a sustainable future. In order to provide more transparency around the environmental impact of plastic pipe systems on our environment, we have issued an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) tool for your iPad, which you can find on the Apple app store or download directly from our webpage.
