Building long-lasting cable infrastructure is key to meeting future energy and data demands.
Our versatile range of durable cable ducts ensures power and communication lines have the protection they need — no matter the application or installation method.
Made from the highest quality PE, PP or PVC, Pipelife cable ducts are designed with durability and longevity in mind.
Discover how our versatile cable duct range can support your project — no matter the application.
1. What are cable ducts?
Cable ducts are protective pipes that house electrical cables for power and communication lines.
They ensure electrical cables are protected against external impacts, traffic loads, environmental factors, chemical exposure, pests, and intensive installation methods.
2. What applications can Pipelife cable ducts be used in?
Our range of cable ducts covers a wide variety of applications, including:
Above and below ground installations
Trenchless installations
Fire-safe applications (halogen-free and flame retardant ducts)
Fiber optic cable protection
Electrical energy cable protection
Duct banks
Underwater installations
3. What are Pipelife cable ducts made from?
Our range includes PP, PE and PVC ducts, which vary according to application.
For example, for applications that require heavy-duty impact and abrasion protection, such as trenchless installations, we offer robust PE ducts.
For open trench installations or duct banks, we offer a wide range of PVC ducts from 50-250 mm, including long radius bends.
Some projects, like open tunnel installations or interior building setups, require additional fire-safety considerations. Although PVC boasts excellent fire resistance, some circumstances also require the complete absence of halogens. For these additional safety applications, we provide halogen-free, flame-retardant ducts that never contain PVC.
4. Are Pipelife cable ducts UV resistant?
Our black cable ducts are UV resistant and safe to use in applications where they will be exposed to sunlight.
5. Are Pipelife cable ducts suitable for fire safety applications?
Yes. While PVC ducts are self-extinguishing, initial exposure to fire can cause corrosive fumes. Therefore, we also offer a range of extra fire-safe cable ducts made from HFF (halogen-free, flame-retardant) PP. HFF PP ducts can be used in applications that have additional fire-safety requirements — like tunnels, metro stations, culverts and open indoor installations — as they are completely free of halogens and PVC.
6. What are OPI cable duct banks?
OPI is a Pipelife partner of almost three decades. Together, we have worked to provide reliable, easy-to-install duct banks for major infrastructure projects and challenging installation settings.
The OPI portfolio includes reusable formwork holders, formwork plates and more than 125 spacer variations. These components provide a complete solution for duct bank setup and casting, whether on-site or in a controlled setting.
OPI’s interlocking modular spacer system is highly adaptable to various project needs, speeding up installation and minimizing the risk of alignment issues.
7. How long do Pipelife cable ducts last?
Although all Pipelife cable ducts are made for the highest quality raw materials, choosing the correct duct for your project is critical to ensure the maximum lifespan. When applied to the appropriate application, Pipelife cable ducts can last up to 100 years.
8. Where can I buy Pipelife cable ducts?
Our cable ducts can be bought directly from your local Pipelife partner. We are present in over 20 European countries, all of whom will be happy to field any of your purchasing inquiries. For more details, see the list of our operating countries at the bottom of the page.
