Eco-friendly heating and cooling

Conventional heating and cooling systems such as forced air systems or electric radiators can place an enormous burden on our power bills. Oftentimes, they are one of the most taxing household appliances due to their high-energy consumption, and one of the least environmentally friendly due to their greater contribution to CO2 emissions.

The good news is that there are many eco-friendly alternative solutions available to you, which offer an an extremely energy efficient and sustainable set-up for your home or office.

Opting for an alternative energy source

Going eco-friendly doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to replace your entire heating and cooling system. One of the main benefits of choosing alternative energy sources is that most eco systems are compatible with conventional heating and cooling units. For example, geothermal heating systems are compatible with radiators, in addition to a broad range of surface heating and cooling systems.

You have a wide choice of geothermal systems to meet your particular local conditions and construction requirements.

Opting for Eco heating and cooling

Hydronic radiant heating and cooling creates a comfortable and even temperature. Thanks to the efficient distribution of either warmth or coolness and the fact that it is radiated, you can keep your thermostat a few degrees lower compared to conventional heating and cooling systems without compromising on comfort. You can also combine radiant hydronic systems with a variety of eco energy sources, such as a geothermal system, to further reduce your costs.

Why is hydronic heating and cooling so efficient?

Product

Well-being is not only dependent on the measurable air temperature. Radiant heat enables a pleasant temperature distribution in the entire living or working area. Thanks to this, the room temperature can be kept about 2 to 3 ° C lower without affecting the feeling of comfort. This is especially beneficial in rooms with high ceilings, where heat from convection systems would usually rise. In contrast, radiant heat stays where it is needed.

Thanks to its large heating and cooling surface, underfloor heating operates with a low temperature range, meaning you need less energy to heat your space, resulting in low heating costs. As the same pipes are used to cool the space by circulating chilled water under the surface, in the same way, less energy is needed to cool the water. It’s also possible to combine the system with alternative energy sources, making it an even more economical solution.

With the ability to heat and cool your space with one system, there is no more need for convection, ACs or fans, which all circulate dust. This results in optimal temperature distribution and less circulation of air, making it much more comfortable for people who may suffer from allergies.

All Pipelife hydronic heating and cooling pipes are made from certified and reinforced thermoplastic for reliability and durability, meaning they need very little maintenance once installed.

All Pipelife heating and cooling systems are compatible with alternative energy sources, and with a wide range of heating systems such as boilers and heat pumps, with the possibility to have an outdoor connection for snow and ice free driveways and parking lots. They can also be installed in combination with radiators, ventilators and fans.

Wondering how sustainable a hydronic system is?

Compatibility with renewable energy sources

Due to its low temperature operating system, hydronic underfloor heating is an ideal choice if you are looking for more sustainable and efficient heating methods. This is especially beneficial if you want to use renewable energy sources such as geothermal heat pumps and solar collection systems, providing a more environmentally friendly operating system.

Lower environmental impact

By combining the ability for hydronic pipes to operate at a lower temperature due to the superior heat transfer properties of water and reduced stratification, you require 2-3 degrees less air temperature in interior spaces compared to traditional hot air systems. This reduces energy consumption and lowers heating expenses, which is better for your wallet and the environment.

100-year service life

Plastic piping systems are a sustainable and environmentally responsible choice, especially when considering their extremely long service life. With superior resistance to corrosion and abrasion, and excellent joint performance and leak-free protection, plastic pipes last at least 100 years, if not longer.

Working towards a more sustainable future

As an active member of The European Plastic Pipes and Fittings Association (TEPPFA) we want to raise awareness of the value that plastic pipe systems offer for a sustainable future. In order to provide more transparency around the environmental impact of plastic pipe systems on our environment, we have issued an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) tool for your iPad, which you can find on the Apple app store or download directly from our webpage.
